King Kullen Sponsors Empire Games for the Physically Challenged

King Kullen was honored to again sponsor the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged.  Frank Vassallo, King Kullen’s Vice President of Store Operations, comments that King Kullen has been involved with the games since its inception in 1985.  The Games seek to offer physically challenged youth the opportunity to participate in competitive sports and recreational activities that have been adapted to best suit their unique abilities.  The Games are open to athletes 5-21 years of age with a physical challenge.

Vassallo attended the Opening Ceremonies on behalf of King Kullen on Thursday May 31, 2018 at Mitchel Athletic Complex.  He and his daughters, Frances and Danielle, were humbled by the many talents of the many athletes they met that evening.  Events took place over the next two days, and included track, field (discus, precision throw, distance kick, long jump, shot put and more), wheelchair basketball, swimming, table tennis, archery and slalom.

King Kullen employees Elisa LaBoyne (Mt. Sinai King Kullen) and Donna Catapano (Bethpage King Kullen) volunteer at the Games and are pictured with Frank Vassallo
